Senator Yakubu Oseni has described the support of other senators for his bill seeking the establishment of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta as ‘patriotic zeal’.

The bill for establishment of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta scaled second reading at the upper chamber of the National Assembly on Thursday.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja after Thursday plenary, Oseni said the proposed Steel University is projected towards emancipation of Nigeria steel sector. He vowed to present unprecedented legislative achievement in the history of representative governance of Kogi Central senatorial district.

Oseni, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime, added that with the establishment of the specialized university, the seeming dearth of human resources in iron and steel sector would be permanently solved. He noted that Ajaokuta Steel complex would receive the necessary technical boost when eventually resuscitated.

The lawmaker, while reassuring his constituents of credible and beneficial legislative engagements, said he will do everything humanly possible to ensure the establishment of the institution and other laudable projects across the five local government areas of his constituency.

Senator Oseni’s counterpart from Kogi West, Senator Smart Adeyemi who had earlier lauded the initiative of establishing steel university in Kogi state, noted that the country’s steel industry requires broad spectrum of knowledge and valuable skills to function optimally.
