Quest for Good Roads in Our Communities

Your Excellency sir,

It is with due respect and honour to your office, and heart full of pains and grievance that we write to you today.

Your Excellency sir, without taking much of your time, we will like to go straight to the point which is the situation of our road that is in a dilapidated state.

With due respect sir, our road, being the headquarter, has become a nightmare to the entire Okehi Local Government Area. It is no longer motorable and we are crying out loud.

The condition of this road has brought about many changes; though negative changes like change in transportation fee. Delay on the road due to potholes and swamps. On a regular bases, vehicles break down and traumatize road users due to bad road networks. Overtime, people will say that the LG chairman can carry out road constructions project. Now the big question is, what happen now that our IGR in Okehi LG is not even enough to pay LG staffs talk of financing road project?

Well, if the state government will not fix this road for us, it will remain this way forever. Then, we will lose access to about seven communities because, in no distance time now we will be experiencing raining season and we are sure many of our brides from Uhuodo down to Okaito Usungwe will surely fall totally if not given proper attention.

Remember that physical development in our humble state is one of the reasons we came out massively to cast our vote during the last election that was conducted.

Sir, our community is a good example of dump site any time it rains because of the decayed state of the road drainages. Moreover, the abandoned drainage construction poses a great threat to the pedestrians.

This poor state of the bridges has caused heavy loss of lives and property in our communities.

Sir, we also want you to look into the poor construction works of contractors handling various road projects in the state. It is shameful that in less than two years of construction, many of the roads are already fading away which is not proper. The surface of the road is broken by the heavy vehicles passing through whenever there is traffic hold up in Okene and travelers decided to follow Obangede road going to Kabba and Ekiti State.

We are in deep distress in this account. Mere trekking can easily trigger an acute tachycardia.

We cannot do otherwise but appeal to the governor to provide good road network. We really feel sorry for the pregnant mothers plying those bad roads on daily basis because as we was told, some expectant mothers have had miscarriages because of the bad road. In the wake of the recent intensive rainfall, the issue of bad road has become a pertinent matter – requiring urgent and lasting solution. The sound of a rushing rainfall remains an impediment to the well-being of your people who call on your attention from Obangede in Okehi LG, Kogi state.

Remember we are part of Kogi State and part of Ebiraland so, we should not be left out in terms of development.

Thanks as we await a favorable attention to our humble request in no distance time. May our good God continue to shower his infinite guidance on you as you honour this our request and consider it helpful for your administration.

Signed:
Abdulrahaman Hakeem
