The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni has charged the management and staff of Kogi Internal Revenue Services (KGIRS) to be unrelenting in their effort to support the state government through adequate revenue generation.

Senator Oseni made the remarks today in Lokoja while paying a courtesy visit on the staff of KGIRS where he served as the Executive Chairman before being elected as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The lawmaker who described KGIRS as his second home specially appreciated the staff who in one way or the other supported the re-election bid of Governor Yahaya Bello and also his political ambition of becoming a Senator in the last general election.

“I felt very elated by your respective support all through the electioneering campaigns and the eventual election. While many of you from my constituency were actively involved, I was adequately informed that those of you from the East and West organised prayers for my success in the contest,” the lawmaker appreciated.

He, however, charged all the staff to be more committed in their respected offices, arguing that each staff is indispensable and Chief Executive in their respective offices.

While urging the staff to cooperate with the Executive Chairman in order to succeed in the onerous task of revenue generation in the state, Senator Oseni reinforced that everybody should have a sense of ownership of the KGIRS, saying it will bring about team spirit in the system.

Senator Oseni explained that “the Executive Chairman is not the owner of the Revenue Service, he is only part of the people God has ordained to complement the effort of the Governor in the quest for rapid development of the state. If he succeeds, we all succeed and vice versa. I know you will not let him down,” he added.

The visibly excited Executive Chairman of the KGIRS, Mr. Ali Nda Salami who was flanked by the staff, top Managers and Directors of the Service expressed his profound gratitude to the Senator for finding time to visit his former office which he said, (Senator Oseni) reformed in line with the best global standard before going to the National Assembly.

He described Senator Oseni as valuable landlord of KGIRS who laid solid foundation for him to build on and solicited for repeats of the visit in order to get guidance from his wealth of knowledge.
