Kogi Nurses Tasked on Professionalism in Health Service

The Nurses and Midwives in Kogi State have been urged to ensure professionalism and in the discharge of their service to the people of the state.

The State Head of Service, Dr Moses Atakpa who spoke at a parley organised for the past and present leaders of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Mid-wives said the professional cannot be under-estimated.

Dr Atakpa praised the labour union in the state for the unity existing among them and noted that the state government will not relent but resolved to transforming the healthy sector.

While admitting the hazardous nature of the health industry and growing concerns of health works, he commended the sacrifices of nurses both past and present in the profession.

He further commended the Association for its service to humanity and described the gesture of the state leadership of the union as unprecedented.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Hassan Salau stressed the need for the in-service training and retraining of nurses in the state, noting that this will enable them have theoretical and technical-know-how to live comfortably in the digital age.

Alhaji Hassan also expressed appreciation to the Association for their support to the present administration in the state in its health policies and programmes which he said was on course.

Earlier, the state Chairperson of the National Nigeria of Nigerian Nurses and Mid-wives, Comrade Funke thanked the past and present leaders and as well as members of the union for the confidence reposed in her.

Comrade Kanjuni called for the empolyment of more nurses to ensure productibity as well as payment of CONHESS-ten for its members in the state.
