Kogi: Group Embarks on Identification and Rehabilitation of Roads in Okunland

A group of young professionals have launched an initiative aimed at identifying bad roads in Okun land, Kogi State with the aim of mobilizing resources to rehabilitate the roads.
Speaking with Kogireports on the initiative, one of the conveners of the initiative, Mr. Richard Babaeko said the group will leverage on the reach of social media platforms to gather information on the state of roads.
He explained further that the initiative is a community development project that seeks to revive the ailing economy of Okunland that has been badly affected by the deplorable condition of roads in the area.
“We have started by identifying all the immotorable roads in Okun land. Our initiative is a community development project to sand-fill all the bad roads across Okun land. It is also a way of engaging jobless, able bodied youths in Okun community.
“It is a way of  ameliorating the sufferings of Okun market women, farmers, and the community. The road network is not good. We have to prepare for next year rainy season.
“Please, if you know any town in Okun land with bad roads, kindly help us take snapshots of the road, record 3-minute video and send it indicating the address of the place to our dedicated phone number – 07069079611.
“Our youths are being used for thuggery. We intend to involve our youths in social work,  like patching the roads. We want to make our roads at least motorable”, he said.
Already, a Facebook Page, Twitter handle and Youtube channel has been created for the purpose of crowdsourcing relevant information and initiating mass action in respective communities in Okunland.
