The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi state chapter, has called the Inspector General of Police to investigate the rumour making round that Speaker, Kogi House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mathew Kolawole, imported thugs to the state to unleash mayhem on the electorate during the November 16 governorship election.

In a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Bode Ogunmola, PDP said reiterated its demand for a free and fair election.

The party urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to allow their performances speak for them rather than resort to violence like it did during the 2019 general elections.

“We will watch to see how the security agencies handle the allegations. This is the time to prove us wrong as Kogi citizens seem to have lost confidence in the activities of the agencies,” he said.

The PDP warned against desperation by the APC, pointing out that having been rejected by Kogi people, the party should bow out in honor, rather than unleash violence on the law abiding citizens of the state.
