The governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 3 December governorship election in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu , has called for one man, one vote during the election.

He challenged the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to rise up to this task of ensuring a free, fair and credible election.

He said being the only governorship election to be conducted on that day in the country, all eyes will be on Jega’s INEC and security agencies that will supervise the polls.

According to him, Jega’s credibility will be at stake during the election as the whole world will be watching how he conducts it.

Audu said he is calling for one man, one vote because of fears in some quarters that the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is planning to hijack the electoral process and use security agencies and armed thugs to intimidate the opposition, especially ACN members.

On why he is seeking to govern Kogi state again eight years after he left office, he said he is coming back to nurse his sick baby (Kogi) to good health following immense pressure from his people to return.

He lamented that all his legacies have been laid to waste by the Governor Abubakar Idris-led PDP administration in the past nine years.
