The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, has told the people of the state to expect progressive governance from him, given his desire to turn Kogi into a prosperous state with a functional economy, if voted into power in December.

Wada, who emerged the PDP standard bearer for the December 3, 2011 gubernatorial election in Kogi after trouncing his opponents in the PDP gubernatorial primary election recently, said he was fully prepared to take Kogi State to the next level in line with the blueprint he had designed for governance of the state.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate, who lauded the incumbent governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, for ensuring political stability against all odds in the state, said he would start by working on peace and security, which he said Kogi State had always been known for, while aspiring to give every citizen of the state a sense of belonging.

Wada, in separate chats with chieftains of the PDP in Lokoja where he has been on a campaign trip, said he had, for long, identified Kogi State as the most endowed state in the country in terms of human and natural resources among the states in the Middle Belt. He vowed to turn the natural resources in the state into a huge economic power for the state.

He said while he would ensure good governance and a stable polity, he would mobilise the work force in the state to work for its progress, first through the agricultural sector, which he said had the potentials to engage the teeming population of youths in the state in gainful employment.

He said the era of dependence on monthly federal government allocation would be a thing of the past if voted into power, noting that Kogi state has more than sufficient resources to spring forth prosperity for the people of the state, if properly harnessed.

He said aside working with the federal government to turn the steel resources in Kogi state into a huge fortune for Nigeria and more importantly, the people of the State, his government would open up the space for investors to move into the state to help nurture the economic fortune into reality.

He appealed to supporters of the PDP in the state to approach the period of the electioneering campaign ahead of the December election with maturity, noting that it was in the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity that the ruling party in the state can attain victory and beat their chest for that afterwards.
