The Director of Local Government, Adavi LGA of Kogi State, Alhaji Abdullazeez Ohere, was kidnapped by gunmen in his house at Agassa, Okene LGA on Saturday.
It was gathered that about 10 gunmen stormed his house Saturday night and took him away after using a heavy object to break the main door of the house to enter his room.
It was further gathered the gunmen demanded for the cell phone of all the occupants and told the Ohere that they were hired to kill him, but that if he co-operates they would spare him.
A source said Ohere complied and surrendered some money and jewelleries to them but they took him to an unknown destination. The abductors were yet to call any of his relations or council official yesterday. Kogi State police spokesman, Elvis Aguebor, said would contact the police division in Adavi over the incident.
It would be recalled that last year, the wife and daughter of the former chairman of the council, Salihu Adaviriku, were kidnapped and spent over two months in captivity.
