A student of Covenant Secondary School, Lokoja, kogi State, died on Sunday, while several others sustained varying degree of injuries in an accident that happened within the metropolis.
The student, Jalekaiye Dominion was said to have died from head injuries and his body has been deposited at the mortuary, while those that sustained injuries were said to be receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja.
It was gathered that 50 boarding students were on their way back to the school after a Sunday service at the Living Faith Church situated around Phase II area, when the accident occurred.
Eye witness account had it that the state Mass Transit bus conveying the students back to school was hit from the back by a truck that was trying to avoid a pothole along the Murtala Muhammed way.
In another development about three persons were said to have died while several others sustained injuries in another accident at the Felele end of Lokoja.
The accident was said to have involved a Dangote Cement Company truck which lost control and veered into the market, ramming into some commercial motorcycles conveying passengers from the market.
The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) could not be reached for confirmation as his phone was said not to be reachable.
