The Supreme Court will today deliver judgment in an appeal case brought before it by Dr Ado Ibrahim, challenging his dethronement by the Court of Appeal and Kogi State High Court as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.

Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad who led a 5-man panel of justices of the apex court had fixed today June 5 for judgment after listening to counsel to parties in the suit who adopted their final brief of arguments.

Ibrahim was sued by a group of Ebira chieftaincy stool stakeholders in 1998 following his alleged wrongful appointment by Col. Bzigu Afakirya, the then Kogi State military administrator on June 2, 1997.

The Ebira monarch had joined seven other contestants, Kogi State Government and Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice as respondents in the suit.

The Court of Appeal, Abuja, had on December 12, 2009, upheld the judgment of a Kogi State High Court which had dethroned Dr. Ado Ibrahim on April 2, 2006 as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland on account of irregularities and breaches of laws in his appointment.

The complainants in the appeal are Maigida Lawal, Momoh Jimoh, Ibrahim Ohida, Ahmadu Anivbassa, Isa Sani Omolori, Idris Seriki and Momoh Sanni.
