Some All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants for the House of Representatives in Kogi State yesterday staged a protest at the party’s secretariat over alleged hijacking of election materials by some party stakeholders.

Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat during the protest, one of the aspirants from Adavi/Okehi, Barrister Jimoh Muhammed, said the aspirants and their agents were at the secretariat as directed by the election committee chairman but they were not given materials after six hours of waiting.

He said the committee chairman told them that he had given the election materials to former governor of the state, Prince Abukar Audu, except that of Lokoja/Koto Federal Constituency.

“As it is now, there was no election in Kogi East, Central and Western senatorial districts, except Lokoj/Koto Federal constituency. We want to let the national secretariat and the world know that there was no election in the state as the materials were handed over to Audu, instead of the party chairman,” he said

Also speaking on the development, APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Haddi Ametuo, said there was no primary election in the state as the secretariat did not receive election materials, adding that he would brief the national leadership of the party that the exercise did not take place in the state.

As at the time of filing this report, the exercise was holding in only Lokoja/Koto federal Constituency.
