The police in Kogi State yesterday said they had killed the prime suspect behind the recent kidnap of the state High Court judge, Justice Samuel Obayomi, who was later freed.

The Commissioner of Police, Samuel Ogunjimilusi, said yesterday in Lokoja while parading 14 crime suspects that one Aliyu Musa (aka Osama) who had been on the wanted list was killed during a gun battle with the police on July 27.

He added that he and another gang member were on a revenge mission in Okene where they attacked and killed a filling station manager and one of his workers.

“Osama had been on the wanted list after a jail break from the Koton-Karfe Prison where he was to serve his term for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery after being sentenced to 10 years and 15 years respectively, to run concurrently”, he said. The commissioner said the link in the case proved that Musa was the co-architect of the kidnap of the judge, the killing of his police orderly and was on the move to eliminate all those involved in his conviction before he was killed by the police.
