Olujumu of Ijumu, Oba Jerome Sumonu Goes Home After 20 Years of Peaceful Reign

Thousands of people from all walks of life today gathered at Ogidi in Ijumu LGA to pay their last respect to the Olujumu of Ijumu, Oba Jerome Sumonu.

Speaking at the Saint Thomas Catholic Church, Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, described the late monarch as a humble man who led his people with utmost sense of responsibility.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi commended the late Olujumu for his patriotism and  quality leadership which he said ensured peace in his domain.

Captain Wada commiserated with the family of the deceased, Ijumu people and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

While noting that the welfare of traditional rulers will continue to be of paramount importance to the present administration,urged the family of the deceased, to take solace in his good works and prayed god to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for LGCAs, Alh. Abubakar sadiq Ainoko, described the late traditional ruler as a well learned man who’s contributions at traditional council meetings remain remarkable, assured of the continued support of the government to the welfare of traditional rulers.

In a remarks, the Chairman of Ijumu LGA, Remi Odutola, said the late monarch in his 20yrs reign promoted peace in his domain, said the people of Ijumu LGA will miss his fatherly advise.
