The Kogi State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) yesterday described as unfair the non-release of bailout fund approved by the federal government to settle arrears of salaries owed workers in the state.

The state is yet to secure release of the N50.8 billion bailout fund approved for it last year. Kogi State Chairman of CAN, Bishop John Ibenu, while speaking to newsmen in Lokoja, pleaded harsh economic realities in urging President Muhammadu Buhari to have the fund released.

“Some states got money, other states didn’t. This is unfair. President Buhari has promised that he belongs to all Nigerians. Kogi people are waiting to feel this,” he said.
The Bishop who called on people to draw close to God, stated that all Christians in the state were to observe every first Sunday in the month of May, beginning from this year, as a day of prayer for the state and the nation.
