The traditional ruler of Ankpa (Onu Ankpa) in Kogi State, Alhaji Abdulmalik Umar, has cautioned youths in the state against acts of violence before, during and after the November 21 governorship election.

The traditional ruler made the call during an interview, urging youth to be wary of politicians who would want to use them for illicit activities ahead of the election.

“I wish to advice youths to refrain from anti-social behaviours and illegal activities. They should not be used as thugs. They should not be used as ballot snatchers. Those who want to use them for antisocial behaviors only use them to dump them at the end of the day.”

He urged the electorate to vote for a credible candidate that can bring about the needed development in the state, saying: “Vote for people that have the merit. Don’t vote because of money. There are those that have money but don’t have merit while there are those that have merit but don’t have money. Vote for those that can deliver. Vote conscientiously and vote for people with proven integrity.”

He called on politicians to play politics by the rule and deliver on their campaign promises to the people, saying that “gone are the days when politicians come and deceive people with sweet talks.”

The royal father appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari and pray for him to move the country in the path of development.
