Following the series of attacks on Ette Community in Kogi State, the Federal Government has been called upon to direct the National Boundary Commission, NBC, to release the Real Boundary Tracing Report of the 1936 Nigerian Gazette and adopted by stakeholders in November 2009.

The monarch of Ette, in Olamaboro local government area of Kogi State, Dr. Aaron Akor, said the call had become necessary in view of the incessant claims and attacks on the boundary community by ‘politicians’ from Enugu State.

Speaking with journalists from hiding place in Okpo yesterday, he stated that he fled his palace on August 30, following an attack on him at about 1:00am on August 29 by unknown armed men.

The monarch said the armed men strangled his security guard, Shaibu Apeh, and pushed the body under the kitchen table, before invading his bedroom, demanding the release of all papers pertaining to the Kogi State Government in respect of the boundary.

Akor added that the hoodlums slapped him and injured his left eye, took some files, his royal robes, second class Staff of office, his blackberry, a Nokia mobile phone handset, and later went outside to damage his car and remove the battery.

He said the assailants also set ablaze his generating set, royal fly whisk and walking stick, before shattering his house window glasses “and made a complete mess of the entire palace.” Ochigide, Aishi and Ajefunu were also destroyed.

Akor alleged that the violence in Ette was being perpetrated by “discredited politicians of Enugu State descent, because they see Ette coming to Kogi State as a threat to their political future.”
