Count twenty five is reserved the most important figure in number counts. No wonder it is largely referred as silver. Turning twenty five is equivalent of saying bye bye to childhood, strengthening in youth and mounting for age. For this significance, I congratulate kogites as Kogi state clock twenty five years since its creation. Whether or not one has sympathy for the Yahaya Bello-led government of Kogi state, the event calls for celebration and prayers.

So far, Kogi has been governed by MILADs, elected governors, an acting governor, a reelected governor and of course, a supplementary governor. Hence, we have tasted all form of leadership and the scars and marks attributive to the recipients are justly traceable in books of history, dialogue and documentations. It is enough to thank God that Kogi has since its creation not experienced any major inter ethnic/religious fight bearing in mind the make up of its birth.

Kogi was created mainly out of the FCT, Benue, Kwara and Enugu states. With three major ethnic groups; Igala, Ebira and Okun. It currently has a population of approximately 3to3.5million and boosts of not lesser than five state-owned high institutions whereas it kick started with non inherited from the legacy states. For this alone, we must celebrate. However, a critical assessment of the incumbent government does not suggest the state is heading toward greatness as would have been the dreams of our founding fathers.

The new direction government commenced operation with demolition of monument and roundabouts, some of which had significance to the state origin and culture. Perhaps at times like now, they could have served attractions to guests already invited for the grand finale. More so, there is serious hunger in the land and salary/wages seem more like charity than rights now as there is no exact period of expectation for alerts. Reasons for this has since been attributed to staff verification exercise but even at this aftermath of the process, the condition of state/local government workers remain the same as it was before screening. Whether or not, it will be or a while is what I cannot fathom.

While I am yet to verify the detail and deep knowledge of the speculation making round in mainstream media that the governor was stoned and embarrassed at a Jumat service today. Such occurrence can only be linked to explosion of unbearable hardships. If so be it, “God is angry” at the governor. For records sake, the voice of the people is the voice of God and a hungry man is an angry man. All those within the structures of our state must do everything possible to give citizens a better welfare most especially as we mark silver Jubilee.

Congratulations To The Good People Of Kogi, The Confluence Of Opportunities.

Long Live Kogi State,

Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
