The Kogi State government is looking to boost security in the state by providing security agents with Kogi State Governor To Boost Security With New Equipment.

Launching a Security Trust Fund in Lokoja, the state’s capital, Governor Idris Wada said that the provision of the security devices was in line with the government’s commitment to stamping out crimes and criminality in the State.

He said the establishment of the fund was as a result of his determination to make Kogi State a safe place for all Nigerians to live, work and raise families.

The Governor said the security challenges in some parts of Nigeria had put both individuals and the government on their feet.

He said this is one of the ways to strengthen the security situation in Kogi State so as to enable the citizen move freely in their day to day business without fear of molestation. He said his Government would set aside funds for procurement of modern equipment for effective working of the security operatives.

The event to mark the establishment of the fund was held at the Glass Hall of the Government House in Lokoja, where eminent indigenes of the state gathered to discuss how to strengthen security to ensure safety of lives and property.

In an opening speech, the Chairman of the State Security Trust Fund, Mr Joseph Faniyi, said the launching became imperative because of the growing menace of violent crimes in the State, explaining that  the search for alternative sources of funding to meet the current security challenges led to the constitution of a committee for the establishment of the trust fund.

He said the fund was a public-private partnership in response to the security challenges.

The guest speaker at the occasion, Mr Fola Arthur-Worrey, who is the executive secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, enlightened the well-meaning individuals in the State on the need to raise fund since the government could not do it alone.

Capt. Idris Wada while addressing the occasion said in 2012 a committee was set up to assess the state of security and that the committee recommended the establishment of the Security Trust Fund based on public partnership model.

The Governor said the committee observed that it was not feasible for government alone to shoulder the funding of the security agencies given the scope and sophistication of the security challenges confronting the nation. The occasion witnessed the donation of funds from participants with Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, as the chief launcher.

When ever i read your posts here i beging to wonder if the so called opposition formulated lies you called writeups are strong enough to kill the flies let alone the new vision for new direction, our state has been in the hands of your party for 16 years and there is nothing to show forth, please why not give this administration chance to try their own best just like ur failed party has tried their best but could only be graded as ”very poor” for 16 years and is now crystal clear that our dear depleted state can not be salvaged by this mal-administrating leadership of PDP…pls stop crucifying and expecting what your party couldnt achieve in 16years to be achieved in a twickle of an eye. Well, i want you to know that the wise ones are getting tired of your framed lies, allow our governor to rule, you have rule and u failed with your cabals, stop deceiving the good people of kogi and stop threatening the peace and harmony that is currently existing in our beloved state…Okai Austin let kogites rest, we are tired of your lies!!! ”He who have ear, let him hear”
