Kogi NDLEA Impounds 905.25kg Indian Hemp

Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has impounded a bus loaded with 905.25kg cannabis sativa otherwise called Indian hemp.

State Commander of NDLEA, Alhaji Idris Bello, who disclosed this while showing journalists the impounded bus at the agency’s headquarters in Lokoja, stated that it was one of several arrests in the last three weeks, adding that the driver abandoned the J5 bus with registration number Nasarawa XA815LFA at Army and NDLEA checkpoints, and disappeared.

He pointed out that the long stay of the J5 bus drew the attention of the military personnel, who called operatives of the NDLEA.

The commander stated that on searching the bus, it was discovered that 91 bags of cannabis sativa and some compressed into 110 bread-size worth 905.25kg was concealed in black nylon under empty tomato baskets.

He restated the commitment of the agency to continue the fight against the illicit drugs, noting that it is a battle of “No retreat, no surrender.”
