The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Kogi has built over 28 Primary Health Care Centers, 60 VIP toilets, 67 hand-pump bore holes and several surface water scheme.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Yomi Awoniyi who disclosed this on Friday in Lokoja said that malaria and assorted hospital and furniture equipment have been executed and purchased by the MDGs in the State under the present administration.
He said that the MDGs had achieved so much in the health sector especially in reducing child mortality and improvement in maternal health.
Awoniyi, said the present administration was exploiting the benefits of the MDGs in fast tracking development and improving the well-being of its people especially in the rural areas.
Yunusa Nasir, Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada on MDGs said the scheme was concentrating on the provision of boreholes, primary health care and rehabilitation of schools as areas of priority.
As part of its achievements, Nasir said the MDGs scheme had assisted in improving the lives of the citizenry by bringing succour in health, education, provision of water among others, through prompt payment of its counterpart funds.
He said that several MDGs projects inherited from the previous administration were approaching completion and assured that measures had been put in place to ensure that projects under the state MDGs were delivered in good time.
