Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Sadiq Ainoko, has said that local government workers will be paid October salary next week.
Addressing a press conference in Lokoja, the commissioner said the payment would commence as soon as the verification exercise to ascertain actual number of staff on councils’ payrolls is confirmed.
He said the measure followed directives of the governor, Idris Wada, that October salaries at the various local government councils should be paid in full.
“Seven teams comprising accountants and administrators will conduct physical verification of staff and appointees on the payroll of the 21 local government councils.
Each of the team will handle three councils and will complete their assignment within one week. Staff customised data forms have been distributed,” he said.
