Kogi Govt to Electrify Rural Communities – Awoniyi

Kogi State Government says it will through its comprehensive program on Rural Development ensure that rural communities are electrified.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi stated this when he received in audience Southern Bunu Paramount Rulers, assured that communities in the area will be adequately taken care off in the area of provision of transformation.

The governor lamented the inability to have work commenced on the Kabba-Obajana Road , stating that the state government has initiated efforts to have the roads repaired through the Federal Government.

Awoniyi disclosed that the state government has also engaged the operators of Obajana Cement Company on the need to repair the road, said the roads has remained a constant concern of the state government, assured of efforts to ensure the commencement of the road in the next few weeks as soon as the bureaucratic issues between the Federal, State Government and Dangote is resolved.

Awoniyi appealed to the Traditional Rulers to continue to sensitize their subjects not to be stumbling blocks to the success of the Agricultural Development Project at Alape, said the project when it come on stream would create employment and open the area to other opportunities.

Awoniyi described the Kagil Project in Alape Agricultural Project as an economic hub, said it is dream that should be supported steadfastly, as it has the potential to improve the fortune of the state.

Awoniyi assured of the State Government’s readiness to improve on the security situation of the area, lamented the constant harassment of people of the area by herdsmen, and men of the underworld, said it would soon be a thing of the past.

While assuring the Traditional Rulers that the area has been adequately captured in the upgrading and grading of chieftaincy stools, said the area would have cause to smile when the committee report is implemented.

Awoniyi thanked the people of Bunu Land for their support to the present administration, promising that the government would pay greater attention to their requests.

Earlier in his speech, HRH Oba Elijah Jimoh Meseko, the Obaro of Odo Ape and Leader of the Southern Paramount Rulers on the occasion of the visit, said the area is almost cut off from other parts of the state as a result of the bad state of Kabba Obajana road.

Oba Mesheko, lamented the activities of men of the under world who daily inflict hardship on commuters and residents of the area, appealed to the State Government to facilitate the construction of Kabba – Obajana road, and to also assist in the provision of electricity and security to the seven communities that make up Southern Bunu.

Oba Meseko also appreciated the state government for the sitting of the multi purpose Agricultural Development Project at Alape and the appointment of sons of the area into his cabinet.

In a vote of thanks, the Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Kayode Olowomoran, said the area looks forward to the rehabilitation of the Obajana Kabba Road, described the Agric Development Project at Alape as a milestone, capable of fast tracking the economic development of the state.
