The Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada has commiserated with people of the state in general and particularly the immediate family of Prof. Francis Idachaba, a renown agronomist and former Vice Chancellor of the State University, over his death. The international scholar and chairman of the think-tank Committee set up in 2012, at inception of the Wada administration, died in an American Hospital in the early hours of today.

In a statement, the Kogi Governor”s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi, says Capt. Wada received the news of the transition with rude shock.

He noted that the tenure of the late professor in Kogi State University will remain a watershed in the history of that institution and also recalled his cherished contributions to national discourse as a member of the 2005 National Conference.

“My heart goes out to the family and students of the late University don. Prof. Idachaba was a scholar of no mean repute. The annual Igala Education Summit, which he pioneered testifies to the fact that Prof did not allow his international fame to clog his wheel of community and grassroots service. His death is collosal loss to humanity- both at home and abroad. We will surely and sorely miss him. May his gentle soul rest in peace and may God grant all of us, the fortitude to bear the loss.” says the statement.
