Indeed, it is heart-warming that after years of consistent, persistent and dogged request, complaints and appeal, the Federal Government has finally done the needful on the precarious Obajana – Kabba Road.

You will recall that at the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday, 18th May, 2016, the Federal Government granted necessary waivers to Dangote Group for the construction of the Obajana-Kabba Federal Road.

One is happy that the Federal Government took this noble and novel decision because, taking into cognizance the socio-economic importance of the Obajana Kabba Road to Nigeria’s economic development, the continued neglect of the Road has numerous negative effects on the nation, Moreso, since tonnage of cement produced at the Dangote Factory has increased, vehicular movement has rendered the Road comatose leading to unfortunate accidents, numerous security challenges and grinding economic activities in communities to a painful halt.

As the Representative of the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, I use this medium to commend President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government for the bold and encouraging decision to re-construct the Obajana-Kabba Federal Road. Also, I commend the Board and Management of Dangote Group for proposing and accepting to re-construct the Road in fulfillment of the Organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. Equally worthy of mention is the Honourable Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, who during one of our interaction promised to ensure that the re-construction of the Road receives immediate action by the Federal Government.

Permit me to at this juncture congratulate the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency for the positive development. It is a victory for ALL. I make bold to say that the final decision of the Federal Government to concession the re-construction of Obajana Kabba Road to Dangote Group is a fall-out of the personal, group and collective aspiration, sacrifice, prayer and efforts of EVERYONE and EVERY BODY. Truth is, No Single Individual can appropriate this new development to him/her self. Rather, it is triumph of tenacity, collaboration, faith and unity of purpose.

Over the years; at various levels, sons and daughters of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency and the entire Okun Land, have made concerted efforts to ensure that past and present administrations give appropriate and necessary attention to the Obajana-Kabba Road. During this struggle, while some made public their intervention, others chose to work behind the scenes by networking with persons, offices and personalities whose roles are key to the re-construction of the Obajana-Kabba Road.

Permit me to acknowledge and commend the roles played by civil servants from Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency and the entire Okun land. Through their counsel and information; on regular basis, we (your Representatives at all levels) were able to constructively engage relevant Federal Government Agencies. I commend the resoluteness of Youths who through their consistent pressure helped in pushing everyone to forge ahead in our collective desire for the re-construction of the Obajana-Kabba Road. One cannot forget the successive efforts of Okun Leaders who had cause to extract commitment for the rehabilitation of the Road from the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan. Worthy of mention are the contribution of Senator Smart Adeyemi, Senator Dino Melaye, Hon. James Faleke, Hon. Sunday Karimi and my humble self, who at various times engaged President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former and present Ministers of Works through various correspondence and visitation. Similar visit and correspondences were extended to the leadership of FERMA and other relevant Agencies on the need for the re-construction of the Road.

Taking a cue from the assurances the Honourable Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, gave me during one of my visit in February, 2016, I am confident that having given concession to Dangote Group, the re-construction of Obajana-Kabba Road will be completed in record time.

………STILL ON TENACITY AND COLLABORATION
Convinced that for me to deliver on promises made as Representative of the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, there has to be close, symbiotic and enduring relationship between my humble self and our Brothers and Sisters in the Public Service, I had an interactive session with this group of strategic partners on Monday, 7th March, 2016.

The thrust of the Meeting was to seek areas of collaboration through which our dear Federal Constituency can benefit from projects, programmes and policies of Federal Government.

I am happy to report that this inspiring initiative between my humble self and our dear brothers and sisters working in various offices in the Federal Civil Service has paid off.

Through their very vital information, useful counsel and guidance, I have been able to attract some projects and programmes to Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in Budget Year 2016.

Realizing that there are no good roads in, around and within communities in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency, I (with the support of our brothers and sisters in Federal Civil Service) was able to successfully network for the listing of the following Road projects in Budget Year 2016:-

1. Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Repairs of Gbede-Ofere Kiri Axis (Kogi State) of the Ayetoro Gbede –Egan Federal Road-Cost N81m

2. General Maintenance Repairs of Kabba-Omuo Ekiti S/B Road – Cost N200m

3. Maintenance Repairs of Okene-Kabba Road in Kogi state – N185m

4. Kabba-Isanlu-Egbe –Omu Aran (Kwara State) border – N132m

Permit me to use this medium to on behalf of the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, express my profound appreciation and commendation to our very vibrant, passionate and committed brothers and sisters in the Federal Civil Service who made these possible. It is my sincere prayers that Almighty God will reward your labour of love, Amen.

The message for us, ALL, is that with single-minded focus, determination and collaboration, we can achieve more for our very dear Federal Constituency.

God bless us, ALL, Amen.
