The Kogi State governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Yaqeen A Habeeb congratulates the Muslims on the completion of the fasting of the month of Ramadan.
He felicitates with them as they celebrate the Eidul-Fitri festival. He says that Muslims should take the blessings of the month beyond the month of Ramadan.
He reiterates that the lessons of the month includes but not limited to building self-control, self-restraint, self-education, self-evaluation, and sacrifice. These virtues he says are required for peaceful living with every member of the society. These are also required for building a strong and reliant economy.
Fasting in the month, he reiterates is essentially for Muslims to imbibe righteousness and thereby striving to please God by performing acts which positively affect the welfare of others and enhancing all acts of worship. Muslims, he opines, by enduring hunger through fasting get closer to the condition of the poor who cannot afford regular daily meals. As a result of this understanding the Muslims become more sympathetic to the needs of the poor and thereby help them. He calls on the Muslims to intensify their support for the needy even after the completion of the fasting. He also encourages the well-to-do members of the society to invest their wealth in economic activities where the needy and jobless can be employed.
He solicits the support of Kogi indigenes to give him their mandate at the forthcoming primaries and general election to lead the good people of the state as the governor. His focus, he states is to develop the State through industrialization by which he will create jobs to drastically reduce unemployment and improve infrastructure in the State. He calls on other politicians to be guided by the principles of service to their father land rather than self-interest in the build up to the elections so that the electorates can enjoy the much needed dividends of democracy.
