Court Remands 35-yr Old Civil Servant Over Robbery, Kidnapping In Kogi

A 35-year-old Civil Servant, Mr Samson Manyude has been remanded in prison on the orders of a Lokoja Senior Magistrate Court over alleged armed robbery and kidnap of 70-year-old, Edward Amidu.

 

 

Senior Magistrate Clement Kekere gave the order in his ruling on arraignment of the accused yesterday in Lokoja.

 

 

He said the offences which Manyude was arraigned for were grievous and not ordinarily bail able.

 

According to prosecution led by Sgt Oladele David, the complainant, Isah Amusa of opposite Uraye Bus Stop, Egume, reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Anyigba and Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Lokoja on June 14, 2016.

 

The prosecution submitted that the complainant, Amusa, alleged that on the same date at about 3am while he and his family were sleeping, they heard a knock on the door, identified as officers of NDLEA on investigation.

 

The complainant said that on opening the door, he saw some armed persons, wielding offensive weapons including guns and cutlasses adding that from there, they proceeded to rob him and his family members at gun-point.

 

 

Items forcefully taken away from them by the alleged kidnappers and robbers, according to him, include five handsets of different make, Pair of shoes, N3,000 cash and Union Bank PLC ATM card.
