The advice by the Chief Justice of Nigeria to the election petition tribunals across the country to ensure that petitions brought to them should be treated based on facts presented by all the litigants is a welcome development.

We would like to call on the election petition tribunal sitting now in Lokoja, Kogi State to abide by the directive of the Chief Justice of the Federation in treating all the petitions before them with all sense of purpose and transparency.
The last general elections conducted throughout the country showed some aggrieved politicians who lost elections approached those tribunals to seek redress. The recent judgment where the election petition sitting in Lokoja threw out a case as regard the Kogi west senatorial election based on some technicalities leaves much to desire.
The learned judge should have given the defendants the time to prove his case than just dismissing the case based on the technicalities. We call on the other election tribunals in the country to make their judgment based on the facts before them and give justice to the right person.
The present government under President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to ensure the rule of law which has rekindled the hope of Nigerians in the judicial system.

How would a governor not be able to separate between protesters and robbers. The laws of the land which he swore to uphold at all times has already done that. I think the governor should study the law and understand that it is not in his powers to pronounce what crime somebody has committed. Governor you are running down the state, do something before something do you. But come to think of it, it is like we have a governor who does not seem to understand his responsibilities, he is only looking at his powers. God help us.

Well, let us pray for his leadership. If a leader loose an atom of wisdom, he/her is bound to face undue calamity. A leader’s advisers matter.
