Armed robbers along Lokoja-Okene express way have devised a new method of robbing innocent and unsuspecting travellers on the road.
The Armed Robbers, instead of their old method of mounting road blocks or using bad portion of the road, have now resorted to the use of accomplices moving vehicle to slow down or block the movement of their target in order to carry out their nefarious activities.
While narrating his ordeal, The Graphic Reporter who was a victim of robbery attack, disclosed that at about 7.30 am about two kilometres from Irepeni Village where the incidence took place, a white colour Toyota Camry car which overtook the passenger bus conveying them to Ilorin, blocked their bus.
According to him, about 14 armed robbers who were already hiding at the spot, jumped out from the bush and commanded all the passengers to come down from the bus.
He stated that when the robbers had successfully demobilised the driver and all the passengers were commanded to lie down; an escort vehicle coming from the other direction got to the scene of the incident, started shooting sporadically.
The armed robbers ran into the bush and when they saw that the escort bus did not stop, they returned back to their victims. Unluckily for them, the escort vehicle turned back and the armed robbers finally took to their heels and ran back to the bush.
One of the unlucky passengers that lost fifty thousand naira and his iPhone to the robbers, called on Nigeria Police to always be at their various check points very early in the morning as the robbers use their none presence to carry out their dastardly activities
According, to him, armed robbers are always on the road mostly very early in the morning and on weekend when there is heavy traffic on the road.
Investigations by The Graphic revealed that such incidents on the road are almost a daily occurrence. Motorists are equally advised to be alert and be watchful of vehicles that overtake them as they might be an accomplice of the armed robbers on the express way in carrying out their nefarious activities.
